NEW!!! is an adjective referring to something recently made, discovered, or created. Yet according to Boris Groys it is by the movement of ideas from one context to another that something new is created. This would mean that it is in fact specific geography in which something appears that creates it the new, so geography is the factor that creates “space” for the emergence of the encounter defined as the new.
As the specific geography is the determining factor lending agency to something becoming new. One can ask what is the linguistic geographical specificity that defines the emergence of the new in this previous introductory paragraph? Two terms emergence and encounter.
1. is the specific authentic agreed meeting between individuals unexpectedly being faced with something difficult.
2. Unexpectedly meet with someone.
In philosophy, systems theory, science, and art it is a phenomenon whereby larger entities arise through interactions amongst smaller or simpler entities such that the larger entities exhibit properties the smaller/simpler entities do not exhibit.
Now that we know which two definitions are determining the specific geography of what is defined as new, we could ask ourselves – what is defining the specific characteristics of a geography in which the appearance of the new is facilitated? The term being time, so the next term that accompanies specific geography is temporality together making temporal geography. The next point defining the new becomes not where something appears but when something appears within that where.
